Voting gives you the power to create positive change for your community and determine a better quality of life for you and your family. Your vote matters! Voting in local, state, and national elections is one of the most important duties of an engaged citizen.
Who can register to vote?
You must be registered to vote 30 days before any election in which you plan to vote, so it is important that you do not delay! Here are all of the common requirements you will need to meet in order to register in most states:
- You must be a citizen of the United States
- You must be a resident of the state in which you are trying to vote
- You must be at least 18 years of age
- You must not be in prison or on parole for conviction of a felony
- You must not be considered mentally incompetent by a court
When would I need to Re-Register?
Many times people are unsure if they will need to re-register. Here are the basic reasons why you would have to re-register:
- Your address has changed
- Your name has changed
- Your political party affiliation has changed
